Glendale Arizona
As the fourth largest city in Arizona, Glendale is one of the
fastest growing cities in the state. The city is located on the
far eastern border of the West Valley. Glendale stretches north
to Deer Valley Road, south to Camelback Road, east to 43rd
Avenue, and west to 91st Avenue. The city of Peoria is to the
west and the capital city of Phoenix is to the east.
Residents have many choices when it comes to getting around the
city. Loop 101 travels north and west, along the edges of
Glendale. Interstate 10 is near its southern boundary and Grand
Avenue (State Highway 93) cuts diagonally through the city. Good
access to a variety of routes makes it simple for Glendale
residents to get around the Valley of the Sun and its
surrounding communities.
An ideal location near freeways and the western section of the
Valley of the Sun has made Glendale an excellent choice more
many businesses. Glendale offers exceptional economic
opportunities for new businesses. The city is diversified with
manufacturing, services, aerospace, communications, metal
working, electronics, and warehousing industries located in
Glendale. Luke Air Force Base is situated at the western edge of
the city. It is the largest jet fighting training base in the

Glendale Municipal Airport is located in the western section of
the city.>pilots, business entrepreneurs and others enjoy this
477-acre modern airport. The airport offers a 2-story, an 18,000
square-foot terminal, a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)
controlled tower, and complete airport services for general
aviation and corporate jet traffic. Getting around the Valley of
the Sun is easy when you live in Glendale.

Glendale is one of Arizona 's largest cities. It is known for
being northwest Phoenix's hub for commercial, industrial and
educational facilities. The town is located 9 miles northwest of
downtown Phoenix in the West Valley. It covers 52 square miles.
Glendale is a very popular place to visit. The town began as a
small church town and has grown to one of the largest towns in
the Valley. There are numerous educational and training
facilities such as the American Graduate School of International
Management, Arizona State University West Campus, Glendale
Community College, Luke Air Force Base and Midwestern
University's College of Osteopathic Medicine. All of these
institutions are leaders in their areas of expertise. Glendale
also has a quaint historical section of town where restaurants
and antique shops line the streets.
Today Glendale has a population of 185,000. It sits at an
elevation of 1,100 feet. Glendale's southwestern climate has
summer highs of 105 degrees and winter lows of 35 degrees.
Despite Glendale's big city population, it manages to retain
some of the informal charm of the small town it was for so many
years.
There are so many attractions in Glendale that visitors will
need to spend a couple days in town. The Cerreta C andy Factory
is the perfect place to see how c andy and especially chocolate
is created. Of course, the samples make the visit a delicious
one. The Downtown Historic District gives visitors an
opportunity to walk the brick streets lined with antique shops,
art galleries and small cafes. Visitors can also take a free
trolley ride through the historic area. The Bead Museum is
located downtown and has a variety of ancient and contemporary
beads on display. Luke Air Force Base was annexed by Glendale in
1995. The base has the nickname "home of the fighter pilot".
Tours can be arranged by calling the base in advance.
Glendale has wonderful outdoor activities. The White Tanks
Regional Park is a 26,000-acre park named after the natural rock
water tanks used by Native Indians long ago. The park is known
for its natural rock carvings or petro glyphs. Thunderbird Park
has 1,000 acres of desert preserve for hiking and picnicking.
This preserve also has horseback trails. Sahuaro Ranch Park
listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is an
80-acre historical park that has turn of the century buildings
and citrus groves to w ander through. Visitors will find picnic
armadas, volleyball courts, soccer and baseball fields.
