Ancala is an exclusive gated community situated in the McDowell Mountains in Scottsdale.  It covers 850 acres and spans parts of the Sonoran Desert.  Residents who live here play fees to the homeowners association that help cover the costs for community amenities like a shared community park, basketball court, swing set, picnic table area, barbecue grill, and restroom facilities.  

People who live in Ancala also have access to an exclusive 18-hole golf course as well as a fitness center, several restaurants, a heated swimming pool, and tennis courts.  It is located close to the 101 freeway and is managed by an on-site director.

Ancala is served by several public schools including Anasazi Elementary School, Mountainside Middle School, and Desert Mountain High School.  For recreation, residents can enjoy playing rounds of golf at the Ancala Country Club, which is also a summer camp for kids.  

For shopping, residents can visit the Ancala Village Shopping Center, which offers a grocery store, salons, and other individual shops to the public.  Ancala likewise is close to the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art and the Scottsdale Museum of the West.  

Ancala residents have several choices for healthcare.  Medical facilities in Ancala include HonorHealth Scottsdale Shea Medical Center, HonorHealth Scottsdale Rehabilitation Hospital, and Scottsdale Healthcare – Cardiac.  

Home prices in Ancala range from $389,000 to $2.5 million.  The homes are a combination of single-family homes, townhouses, and condominiums.
