Goodyear

Goodyear is a suburban community located approximately 16 miles southwest of downtown Phoenix.  The town was founded in 1916 when the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company began farming cotton for its tire cords.  Soon afterward, Goodyear Aircraft began manufacturing aircraft. 

Today, Goodyear continues to be one of the fastest-growing communities in the Valley.  The Arizona Republic newspaper said that Goodyear is expected to be the fastest-growing community in the Valley over the next 40 years.  The city covers approximately 115 miles and is home to many businesses and recreational opportunities.  There are also many master-planned communities located in and around Goodyear, which make it an ideal place to call home.

El Mirage

El Mirage is a residential community located on the west bank of the usually dry Agua Fria River.  It is approximately 15 miles west of downtown Phoenix.  The Santa Fe Railroad and Grand Avenue (Interstate 60) run parallel to one another through the center of El Mirage.  This makes it convenient for getting around the Phoenix area. 

The town was founded in 1937 as a small traditional farming community.  Soon it became a popular place to live and work.  El Mirage continues to keep its small-town charm.

Buckeye

Buckeye is a small rural community that began in 1888 with a group of settlers from Ohio.  These settlers chose this area to farm near where the Hassayampa River and the Gila River meet.  To honor the state that the settlers had left, the name Buckeye was chosen.

Today, Buckeye is located approximately 34 miles to the west of downtown Phoenix.  It is geographically one of the largest Arizona communities.  It is a place where farming roots and small-town charm continue to grow, in the green valley where neighbors are neighbors.

Tolleson

The town of Tolleson is located approximately 10 miles west of downtown Phoenix.  It began as a stage stop in the early 1900s and later the land was purchased by W.G. Tolleson.  Tolleson built a ranch and encouraged people to move to the area. 

In 1929, the six square mile town was incorporated.   As the west side of the Valley continues to grow, Tolleson remains a close-knit friendly community.  Interstate 10 lies nearby the town which makes it easy and convenient to get around the Valley.  Although the town has a strong agricultural history, today there is many diverse businesses located in and around Tolleson.  It is a self-contained community offering its residents many amenities, such as shopping and recreation.

Gila Bend

Gila (pronounced “hee-la”) Bend was discovered by the Hohokam Indians long ago.  In 1699, Father Kino visited the area and established the first farm.  Since then, Gila Bend has been a stop for the overland stage route and a ranchia for Spanish military officials.  Named for the “bend” in the Gila River that is located nearby, the town has also seen many famous individuals who have passed through such as, Kit Carson, General Stephen W. Kearny, and Captain Phillip St. George Crooke.

In 1962, Gila Bend was incorporated.  The town continues to grow.  Gila Bend is southwest of Phoenix and northwest of Tucson.  It is located on Highway 85, where Interstate 8 intersects it.  These two major routes connect Phoenix and Tucson with the Pacific Coast and Rocky Point, Mexico. 

Gila Bend residents enjoy the low picturesque mountains that edge the town, making it a beautiful desert oasis to live and work.

Estrella Mountain Ranch is one of the largest master-planned communities in the state.  The development is located about 25 minutes west of downtown Phoenix.  It is a lakeside mountain community nestled in the Estrella foothills.

It contains 500 acres of parks and open space, including two private lakes, North and South Lake.  Over 40 acres of green grass, along with an outdoor amphitheater are located around the lakes.  South Lake offers a sandy beach for picnics and sandcastle building.  North Lake is home to sailboats, paddle boats, canoes, and kayaks.  Both lakes provide sport fishing.

Verrado

Verrado spans 8,800 acres in the foothills of the White Tank Mountains.  It is located west of downtown Phoenix, just north of Interstate 10 in the town of Buckeye.  Verrado is a modern community that is reminiscent of an American small town. 

Residents enjoy pedestrian-friendly Main Street shopping, dining, and entertainment venues.  From the center of town extending outward are intimate neighborhoods with tree-lined streets and shaded sidewalks.  This friendly environment encourages people to stroll to a park or to the store.
