It is ranked as the 20th best school district in the state and 17th for the quality of its athletic programs that are available to students. It also has a relatively small student population of about 7900 students, leading to a student-to-teacher ratio of 17 students per one teacher.

The district has a graduation rate of 93 percent, well above the national average of 85 percent. Students in the Agua Fria Union High School District who take the ACT test achieve an average score of 23, which beats the national average of 20.6.

Nationally, the Agua Fria Union High School District receives respectable marks. It gets an overall grade of B for educational and teacher quality, as well as college preparation.
