This is a look at the Arizona Center, now gone.
The Arizona Center is an excellent place to hang out downtown. As a Native Arizonan, I have watched downtown Phoenix slowly die out. At one time the downtown area was not a place to go, but in recent years that has changed drastically. Many terrific activities are held downtown such as sporting events, museums, plays and the symphony to name just few.
The Arizona Center is the perfect place to stop before or after one of these events or to go visit and making it the event. The Center has one of the biggest movie theaters around the Valley. The new AMC 24 Screen Theater has stadium loveseats and state-of-the-art sound. If you want to see a movie this is the place to go. Nightlife heats up as soon as the sunsets. You will find a large sports bar with interactive games and sports, a loud and crazy piano bar and an exciting dance club. With all of those choices, you will find a place to go for a great time.
The Center also hosts a variety of restaurants. These restaurants will satisfy a variety of tastes and budgets. You will find a southwest café’, Italian food and a seafood grill. If you are in a hurry to get to your downtown event, stop in at the Gardenside Food Court. The Court offers numerous eateries with a great view of the garden area.
I need to mention the Arizona Center has some delightful shops. There are several specialty shops in the Center. Many visitors to Arizona enjoy going through these shops for items to take home. Although, I have found some great gifts for my friends at the Center. The shops range from home accessories, collectibles, clothing, sports and southwestern items. You will enjoy going through these shops.
One area I don’t want to forget is the grounds in which the Arizona Center is located. The Center is surrounded by beautiful gardens. It is an award-winning garden that covers over 3 and a half acres of plants. You will see palm trees, water features, sculptures and flowers. You must take a moment to have a seat, take in the view and relax.
The Arizona Center is in the heart of downtown Phoenix. It is located at the crossroads of 3rd Street and Van Buren. The Center is open Monday through Thursday 10:00 am – 9 pm and Friday through Saturday 10:00 am – 10 pm and Sunday Noon – 6 pm. (Weekend/Evening hours may vary.)
I have loved all of my visits to the Arizona Center. I make it the spot to start my night off when attending an event or I make it the place to cap off an evening downtown. Whatever you choose to do I am confident you will love your visit to the Arizona Center.
