Unique Attractions

June 26, 2008 by Scholarship Essays

Arizona received statehood in 1912. Arizona was under Mexican control during the Mexican War of Independence. The United States attained control in 1848, in the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, when Mexico relinquished its control. Arizona tradition is based on Native American and Latin cultural heritage. Likewise, the history of Arizona makes it unique in its very existence as part of the United States.

Arizona has many attractions from state parks, sporting events, museums and more. Northern region parks are known for history and recreational/educational types of parks. The Southern Region Park has a park that takes a look into the past. The McFarland State historic park has a building that is historical because of one of many features. The original structure was constructed by hand using Native materials.

There are resorts and attractions for everybody. Golfers will enjoy Arizona’s large array of options. Grand Canyon tours and Arizona trails for the hiking enthusiast. Activities and sites are endless (e.g. White Mountains, Red Mountains, snow or desert). Spend a Sunday night with the Arizona Cardinals. Put on a baseball cap and glove for a Wednesday evening with the Diamondbacks. Wear your favorite orange jersey for Friday night excitement with the Phoenix Suns.

A unique exploration is a visit to the Arconsanti Project. The Arconsanti project is pending to become home to approximately 5,000 people. The project is designed with principles of Arcology (mixture of architecture and ecology). The Navajo Nation is also a unique attract ion. The Navajo Natives territory consists of the most sophisticated Native American government in America. Within its territory are National monuments, tribal pans and historic sites.

The things that are special and unique about Arizona are endless. I am very proud to be a part of a diverse and unique state. Things to do and things to see are always extraordinarily exciting.
