Scottsdale

July 1, 2008 by Scholarship Essays

Scottsdale, Arizona is a unique, interesting & unpredictable city, which has been continuously churning out a warm, sunny climate, diverse number of people, and a rich, vibrant culture. This resilient land has been thriving, and has grown strong like that of a redwood tree for around 100 years now. The original plot formulating Scottsdale’s ground zero was founded by Major Winfield Scott, whom started a homestead community of just 160 acres in the late 1800’s. I am proud of my hometown and encourage anyone who is looking to enjoy life to its fullest to come find a cozy place under the bosom of Scottsdale to call home. Whether it is for the warm climate, melting pot of unique people, or the southwestern culture and landscape, Scottsdale is the nesting paradise that echoes the call of liberation to all whom seek it.

Scottsdale’s climate is above and beyond what you get in any other part of the United States. Who can complain about eight months of summer weather?  Scottsdale offers the perfect opportunity to spend that afternoon by the pool, soaking up the sun and getting that tan you’ve always wanted. After receiving a bronze color tone like that of a Greek God, why not follow up that cool dip and sunbathing session with a round of golf?  With more golf courses in Arizona than any other state in North America, I highly doubt you’ll have trouble finding a place to tee off in Scottsdale. If you are a night owl, then check out the notorious Scottsdale night life. In fact, there are so many entertainment, food, and fun possibilities in this city that you and your friends can find something new every day for a year straight…and then some!  If you’re looking for that vacation within a vacation, Mexico, California, and Las Vegas is literally only hours away!  The people of Scottsdale will be more than happy to help you get to any destination.

With so much diversity rooted in the city, it is hard not to feel the melting pot vibe that North America is known for. Experiences in Scottsdale will open doors to absorb the different cultures such as Hispanic, Indian, and many more. Inhabitants in Scottsdale create a friendly atmosphere, are quick to lend a helping hand, and revolve highly optimistic attitudes of success. Scottsdale breeds the type of folk whom don’t hesitate to offer that friendly hello to passers by. Each person brings their own piece of worldly knowledge which has lead to many interesting clubs and organizations, many of which with the interests of everybody in mind. Job opportunities are plentiful and abundant with easy access to highly sought-after skills, education, and techniques that companies are thirsty for worldwide. Scottsdale is energy, enthusiasm, diversity, open-mindedness, opportunistic, and artistic personified. A city with a combination like this gives birth to an interestingly rich culture to say the least.

Scottsdale’s culture goes above and beyond any expectations. With the abundance of art, culinary, wine, and music festivals, Scottsdale is always a happening place for some fun and excitement. Don’t think it stops there!  Scottsdale also hosts annual parades, The Tostitos Fiesta Bowl Football Classic, The State Farm Tennis Classic, concerts, classic auto auctions, The Arabian horse show, and The Phoenix Open to name a few. There is something going on every month for the whole family. Although the desert landscape and wildlife is plentiful and abundantly beautiful, there is one attraction that is a must see. Before you go out for a night on the town, make sure visibility is clear on the western horizon at dusk because there will be an amazingly breathtaking view of the Arizona sunset that will create a blissful state of awe on time, every time.

As anyone can see, Scottsdale, Arizona is chalked to the brim with a passion for living to the fullest. It is no wonder why so many people come from miles around to bask in the town’s glory. The diverse, beautiful people with their unbiased compassion for all create an ambiance that is addicting. Now I know why Scottsdale is nicknamed, “”Most Livable City,”" and you should too.
