From Florida

AHHHH-MY BEAUTIFUL HOME
When I moved to Arizona from Florida, a flat, swampy peninsular, surrounded by the ocean, I thought I would miss those smells and sights. The breath-taking beauty of Arizona stamped my very soul and I knew this would be the place I would call home no matter where life takes me.
My parents were wise enough to know I would miss my friends and embarked on an “Arizona educational experience” by visiting the famous, not so famous, and down right tacky sights of Arizona. We all fell in love.
Since very young, I have wanted to work with animals, and my current goal is veterinary school after Northern Arizona University. However, who knows where the future will take me and I maintain an open mind. The world is my oyster and I inhale the sights, smells, sounds, and tastes as a drowning person finds the surface and gulps air.
Of course, I visited the Grand Canyon and its splendor has been touted worldwide, but Tombstone caught my romantic nature with its “cowboy” history of gun battles and bank robberies. Speaking of robberies, maybe there is gold in “them thar hills.” The Native Americans provide a colorful backdrop for dance ceremonies, homemade artifacts and souvenirs that decorate my room as well as my heart. Do you think that the Dream Catcher will really capture my dreams and make them a reality? The Painted Desert is bleak, but sings of history and present beauty. Bisbee with its mining history - I can picture those miners covered with dust, dreaming of wealth, following their donkeys loaded with ore. Ted DeGrazia’s angels watch over Arizona.
Phoenix is my home in a whole state of wonders. Its city smells and I-10 traffic jams exhibit modern crime problems and social services problems and a great diversity of cultures, I want to change it and embrace it and absorb this expanding city.
My joy is the mountains “from whence cometh my help” and each morning I am renewed and I rejoice in the views surrounding my beautiful valley.
