Desert to Life

When people think of the state Arizona, they immediately think of a dry 120-degree state with cacti everywhere. Arizona has changed over the past century. It was transformed from a desert, to life where people live their whole lives and raise their family. When I talk to people outside of Arizona, they never have a pool; they feel that only wealthy people have pools. In Arizona, a pool pretty much comes with every home. In Arizona, it is so hot outside during the summer; the pool is your quick relief to beat the heat.
I am from Gilbert Arizona, and it may sound boring because it rarely rains and never snows, but to me it is the world to me. I have grown up in Gilbert most of my life, other then Chandler when I was younger, and I know so much about it. Everyone in Gilbert knows that if you drive through Old Town Gilbert and you’re speeding, it is almost an automatic ticket. And everyone knows if you want a taste of Mexico, all you have to do is drive down Chandler Blvd for a few blocks and you will feel as if you are there.
Around my side of town, when they put tax money into new freeways, people get on it just to ride for one exit just so they can say they drove the 202 on the way to work or school. It may not be a big city such as New York or D.C., but to everyone in this town it is just what we need.
There may not be an ocean in Arizona, but we have lakes and “the river.” The reason I say the river like that is because that is the number one spot for teens to hangout during the summer. At the river, you pay to rent a tube, and you get to chill down a freezing cold river with all your friends while you work on your tan. Arizona is truly amazing, and everyone should visit because I know they will enjoy it as much as I do.
