History:
The town of Johannesberg was established in 1909, near where the town of Hope is today. Unfortunately, the name did not last long. In 1920, the main highway changed its path between Vicksburg and Johannesberg. The new home route bypassed Johannesberg causing the town to close.
The residents decided to create another town. They placed it along the new home highway route. In honor of the change and for good wishes in the future they named it Hope.
